CLCA Special Award Winners

The President’s Trophy went to double-award winner Katoscapes Inc. of Los Gatos for the Hickingbotham Residence Phase II in Hillsborough. The designer was David Kato.

Wrought-iron arches, constructed entirely on site, framing a spectacular pool area with natural stepping stones leading from the pool and a waterfall to a rose garden and an existing brick patio, earned it the best residential project.

Additionally, Katoscapes won first place in the Custom Residential category for the Preston Residence in Palo Alto, whose designer was Kato. "The residence demonstrated the complete integration of a ‘theme’ design," states Lechner. "This theme was carried through the interior, exterior architecture and garden.
